What is Holistic Nutrition?

Holistic nutrition is a way of approaching wellness that takes into account body AND mind, and that is based on the philosophy that each person is an individual and has unique nutritional and wellness requirements. As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, I’ve studied with the Canadian School for Natural Nutrition and completed the diploma program in Natural Nutrition, graduating with honours.

Most medical doctors have ten minutes or less to sit with you and listen to your concerns, and in general, the best medical solutions offered to you are likely to be pharmaceuticals, While medications can have an extremely important role to play in health, they are not the only solution and they do not address what holistic nutrition refers to as the ‘root cause’ of an issue. Holistic nutrition seeks to move beyond treating symptoms and instead address the underlying issues.

As an R.H.N., I will spend time with you, listen to your health concerns, work with you to identify areas of health imbalance, and help you understand how targeted nutrition and lifestyle practices can help you feel balanced and well again, whatever that means for you. Through this process, I can give you the tools and resources to help you take charge of your own health.

If you’d like to find out more about what an R.H.N. can do for you, please feel free to review the CSNN Code of Ethics and the CSNN Scope of Practice. While holistic nutrition is not a regulated industry in Ontario, there is the CSNN Alumni Association, which is always available to you if you wish to enquire if an R.H.N. is in good standing, wish to find a nutritionist in your area, or wish to share a concern or complaint.
